PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Leading PE backed start-up drilling and completion organization from start to finish. Built operations team, evaluated acquisition opportunities, and delineated the Codell and Niobrara northern extension of the DJ Basin in Laramie and Goshen Counties, WY.

·   Responsible for Site Construction, Drilling, Data Acquisition (cores & logs) and Completion Operations.

·   Designed, Optimized and Implemented Hybrid Gel Completion designs for both Codell and Niobrara.

·   Developed internal processes for well planning, permitting, cost accounting, reporting and vendor

management.

Led the re-branded company start-up drilling and completion operations through the Merger with Eclipse. Built a team from scratch with a focus on development pad drilling both deep Utica and Marcellus acreage in Monroe County, OH and panhandle of WV.

·   Negotiated & Contracted Fit-For-Purpose Rigs and services for efficient and safe HP unconventional drilling.

·   Implemented Enhanced and Engineered Slickwater Completion designs for both Marcellus and Utica (Dry &

Wet Areas).

·   Streamlined internal processes for safety management, cost accounting, development planning and program

approvals.

Provide technical support for M&A economic evaluations for North American conventional and unconventional basins including Appalachian, Williston, D-J, Powder River, South Texas, San Juan, Uinta and Deep Basin.

·   Analyze offset operators’ drilling performance, completion design and operational practices.

·   Provide field development options with detailed time and cost analysis for multiple well designs and activity

levels.

·   Technical and Operational (Field) review and approval of eventual acquisition of Whiting’s Dunn County

assets.

Director - Engineering Technology         2014 - 2015

Led technical engineering teams for 5 departments in providing optimization services and technology advancement through focused project management and detailed engineering. Groups worked closely with operations teams, field personnel, real time support center (OSC), Exploration, and other support services.

Drilling Manager | Drilling Engineering Manager         2009 – 2014

Oversaw all drilling engineering, well programming, vendor services, and daily operational performance in assigned Business Unit or District. Managed activity levels of up to 25 rigs and staff of up to 25 direct and 100+ indirect reports. Interfaced with Asset management teams to optimize development process and drilling schedules to achieve business objectives. Provided Technical and Commercial Updates for Management and JV Partners (CNOOC, TOTAL, STATOIL, BP).

Rockies - Powder River, D-J, Williston Basins, Wyoming, Colorado, North Dakota

·   Redesigned wells and reduced Niobrara drilling cost by $2M per well in core area (target $1M).

·   Improved project economics by extending Sussex and Niobrara Horizontal Laterals Lengths.

·   Improved safety record from worst to first (TRIR 1.53 – 0.78) through operational focus and improved safety

strategies including, SAFE, stop work, and the “good catch” programs.

Utica - Appalachia Basin, Eastern OH

·   Recruited and developed the World Class Team that drilled the 1st 370 CHK wells in all areas of Utica Shale

Play.

·   Reduced overall drilling cost $201 per foot and cycle time 42 days per well. Additionally, accelerated

performance improvement and learning curve through special projects and teamwork.

·   Implemented new technology in US land such as Rotary Steerable in Curve / Laterals and Rotating Cement

Heads.

·   Enhanced Pad Drilling Design and Sim-Ops Processes for rig efficiency and safety.

Marcellus - Appalachia Basin, Southwest Pennsylvania and Panhandle West Virginia

·   Reduced Average Overall Drilling Well Cost by $2.5M in 2-year, ~200 well program.

·   Developed Air / Mist Drilling Guidelines and Best Drilling Practices to reduce failures by 75%.

·   Streamlined SOB Mud handling and waste reduction for closed loop drilling and cuttings haul-off.

·   Developed environmental solutions such as Mathena Shale Gas Separator and Eco-Flare Stack.

·   Initiated Rig Move Efficiency Project “Peake Move Process” with Check-6.

Fayetteville - Arkoma Basin, Eastern OK and Central, AR

·   Reduced Overall Drilling Cost by $51 per ft. ($209 to $158) in 2-year, 500 well program.

·   Developed Best Management Practices (BMP’s) for Environmental Excellence.

·   Managed rig upgrades for closed loop OBM solids control and top drive installations.

Senior Drilling Engineer - Permian Basin, West TX & Southeast NM         2006 – 2009

·   Implemented Risk Reduction Well Design to reduce drilling cost by $200 per ft. Haley Atoka / Morrow.

·   Installed 1st Multi-Zone Packer / Sleeve Completion in Bone Spring Oil Horizontal.
